Jefferson Davis was a person that could see from different perspectives for different situations. That gift was both good and bad.

Some background He was from the South (Kentucky). He was in the Mexican-American War in 1846. He was also in the Black Hawk War. He was a southern politician that stood up for States' Rights.

The first CONFEDERATE states president
He was chosen because he would see both sides on any given situation. He also didn't believe in seceding from the Union, but he did believe in States' Rights. He was also chosen because he was easily persuaded into things. He was a general before and knew what to look for when picking generals, and there were more successful generals in the south then in the union. The bad thing about him was that he thought that he was the best general in history, because of this communication with his officers became difficult.
